🇫🇮 Family workshop, based in Finland

Old fabric,
made new by hand.

Nyksi is a small family workshop that once built mascot costumes for a living. After relocating to Finland, we picked up the needle again with a new purpose: rescuing fabric from the bin and turning it into clothing worth keeping.

Our Story

From mascots to a second life for fabric

For years, our family workshop specialised in something unusual: building mascot costumes by hand, stitch by stitch, for teams and events. It was detailed, physical, deeply hands-on work — and it taught us to see fabric as a material with far more life left in it than a store label ever admits.

When we relocated to Finland, we chose to start again — this time with a purpose that matched the place we'd landed. Finland takes recycling and sustainability seriously, and so do we. Today the workshop is devoted to upcycling: taking worn, discarded, or leftover textiles and reshaping them into clothing that's genuinely one of a kind.

Every piece keeps something of its past life in it. Nothing is mass-produced, nothing is identical, and nothing goes to waste that didn't have to.

Where we started

Years of hand-building mascot costumes as a family craft business.

A move to Finland

Relocating gave us a reason to rethink what we make, and why.

A new direction

Sustainable, upcycled clothing — built the same handmade way, on new fabric with an old story.

Why Upcycled

Good for the planet, better on you

Upcycling isn't just a nicer word for recycling — it means a garment that already existed gets a genuinely new purpose, made by hand, instead of being melted down or thrown away.

Zero waste, by design

We start from fabric that already exists — offcuts, worn garments, donated textiles — so nothing new has to be produced just to be worn once.

Genuinely one of a kind

Because every source fabric is different, no two pieces come out the same. What you buy is the only one that will ever exist.

A lighter footprint

Reusing fabric skips the water, dyeing, and transport cost of manufacturing something new from raw material.

Slow, honest craft

Every piece is cut, sewn, and finished by hand in our workshop — the same care we used to put into a mascot costume.

Ask for something custom

Nothing in the collection quite right, or have your own piece you'd like upcycled or altered? Tell us what you have in mind — custom requests and made-to-order alterations are exactly what this workshop is for.
